At 40 years old, Dr. Sonia heard the words no one is ever prepared for:
“You do have cancer.”
In an instant, she went from pursuing a career in conventional medicine to becoming the patient — overwhelmed, frightened, and full of questions. Questions about nutrition, root causes, long-term risks, and how to support her body alongside treatment were brushed aside. The message was clear: don’t ask, just comply.
That experience revealed a painful truth: while conventional medicine can be highly effective at treating disease, it often lacks the time and framework to support the whole person—leaving many patients feeling unseen, unsupported, and unsure of how to move forward.
Hope Haven exists to fill that gap.

With a background in biochemistry and a relentless commitment to understanding the body as an interconnected system, she pursued full medical training at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. This included intensive education in conventional diagnostics, clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, acupuncture, lifestyle medicine, psychology, and chronic disease care — all while recovering from cancer treatment and managing autoimmune illness.
That journey shaped the foundation of Hope Haven:
• Patients deserve to be heard, understood, and given adequate time
• Care should be thoughtful, evidence-informed, and individualized
• Health decisions are best made with clarity, education, and partnership
• Conventional and integrative medicine are strongest when used together appropriately
• True care considers the medical, lifestyle, metabolic, and emotional context
• Patients thrive when they feel supported, respected, and confident in their care
Today, Hope Haven serves individuals and families seeking primary care, functional medicine, and integrative oncology support — all under one roof.

"Life-Changing Experience"
"Dr. Sonia changed the whole trajectory of my life! I had gained weight from so many bad habits that caught up with me. I was drowning in alcohol, weed and overeating. I ended up with horrible hives and allergies, unable to eat certain foods because the bloating and stomach pains were horrible. I was pretty sure as a Naturopathic Doctor, Dr. Sonia was going to be able to help with my GI concerns. What I did not expect, at all, was after seeing her for 6 visits that I would be in a totally different place in my life. I cannot say enough about how much this time with her helped me. I am a true believer in Naturopathic Medicine. I tell everyone I meet to find a Naturopathic doctor to work with!"

"Grateful"
"Dr. Sonia is an incredibly kind and sharp Naturopathic Dr. During COVID, my family and I were struggling in almost every area of our lives. Initially, I started with Dr. Sonia due to my long history of Type II Diabetes and ended up seeing her every week for an entire year! I was so grateful for her wisdom and knowledge, not just in holistic medicine approaches but in truly listening and understanding the areas in my life where I was stuck. I am eternally grateful for her help during some of the hardest times I’ve experienced. I am more resilient today because of her.!"
- A.K.

"Incredible Support and Results"
"I was diagnosed with a rare mucosal melanoma and underwent several rounds of chemotherapy which had an enormous toll on me. My oncologist had me try an immunotherapy treatment, but I had horrible side effects and had to discontinue. My only option was chemotherapy again, but we were all unsure if I could handle more rounds of carboplatin and paclitaxel. I figured at this point, I didn’t have too much to lose so I started to see Dr. Drouin in hopes to minimize my side effects especially my nausea, dry eyes and candida. I was also struggling to eat and had lost a lot of weight. After just a few weeks, I noticed my energy was better and my nausea was much better. My thrush got better and I was able to maintain my weight. Right now, I have almost completed my chemo and I am hoping to qualify for a drug trial. The second time receiving chemo ended up being more manageable and I credit the addition of Dr. Drouin to my cancer team and the integrative approach she offers for cancer care."

We provide comprehensive care for a wide range of health concerns—from routine primary care and women’s health to chronic illness management, integrative oncology support, metabolic health, and medical weight loss. Our services also include same-day sick visits, acupuncture, specialty testing, and pediatric care.
Regardless of diagnosis—whether lupus, cancer, digestive concerns, mental health challenges, or complex chronic symptoms—naturopathic and functional medicine offer a whole-body framework to support health alongside conventional care. Dr. Sonia collaborates closely with other specialists, regularly makes referrals, and has helped uncover underlying conditions in patients who have gone years or even decades without clear answers. This team-based, integrative approach allows patients to build a coordinated network of qualified providers focused on thoughtful care and the best possible outcomes.
Integrative care means we combine conventional medical training with evidence-informed functional and holistic approaches. We look at lifestyle, nutrition, stress, hormones, and other root-cause contributors to health — not just isolated symptoms — while still respecting and coordinating with traditional medical care as needed.
Yes — we intentionally work alongside your existing specialists or healthcare team. Integrative medicine is designed to complement the care you’re already receiving, not replace it, and to provide clarity and support for your entire health journey.
